Kondo deploys traditional Japanese forms, symbols, culture and technique in her work while injecting it with humour. According to the artist, “My work doesn’t have a serious story. I want to make people smile.”Her artwork is created using traditional hand-printed woodcut on paper thus the edition is very small. On some pieces, she also incorporates gold leaf to accentuate the special area of the artwork.
